{"id":20884,"date":"2020-11-12T11:16:23","date_gmt":"2020-11-12T19:16:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/?page_id=20884"},"modified":"2023-09-12T11:10:23","modified_gmt":"2023-09-12T18:10:23","slug":"code-of-conduct","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/about-us\/safe-and-caring-schools\/code-of-conduct\/","title":{"rendered":"Code of Conduct"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Code of Conduct<\/h3>\n<p>The District strives to provide a safe and non-threatening environment in all schools and facilities, and expects that all members of the District Learning Community will conduct themselves in a respectful, responsible and considerate manner that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>complies with all applicable and relevant legislation including, but not limited to, the prohibited grounds of discrimination as set out in the BC Human Rights Code;<\/li>\n<li>reflects the District values of Respect, Integrity and Compassion;<\/li>\n<li>supports the Five C\u2019s of Social Responsibility: Connection, Caring\/Compassion, Character, Confidence, and Competence; and,<\/li>\n<li>models the principles of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/assets\/gov\/education\/kindergarten-to-grade-12\/teach\/teaching-tools\/student-saftey\/scoguide.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Safe, Caring and Orderly School: A Guide\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Code of Conduct is formally outlined in Administrative Procedure 104 (<a href=\"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/District-Code-of-Conduct.pdf\">AP 104<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The District recognizes that within an educational environment, students\u2019 feelings of safety and belonging, including freedom from discrimination, can seriously affect their ability to learn.
