Facilities & Operations<\/h2>\n

Keeping our schools safe, clean and updated is integral to keeping students, staff and families safe and thriving in our school communities. And whether that\u2019s about cleaning and disinfecting spaces, building new outdoor play spaces or working with community partners to support their needs, the objectives we set are all about how we deliver on our strategic goals to deliver on, improve and deepen our connection to our broader community.<\/p>\n

DISTRICT GOAL: Learners have barrier-free access to safe, healthy, green learning environments<\/h4>\n\n\n\n\n
Objectives<\/strong><\/td>\nKey Results<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Objective 1<\/u><\/strong>:<\/strong>
\nStudents will have equitable, inclusive, barrier-free access to physical indoor and outdoor learning environments.<\/p>\n

Objective 2<\/u><\/strong>:<\/strong>
\nStudents will be able to learn in right-sized facilities that are in reasonable proximity to their homes<\/p>\n

Objective 3<\/u><\/strong>:<\/strong>
\nStudents will learn in clean and healthy buildings<\/p>\n

Objective 4<\/u><\/strong>:<\/strong>
\nStudents will be supported in apprenticeship opportunities<\/td>\n

Key Result 1:<\/strong> Complete upgrades of critical systems within buildings (roofing, lighting, fire suppression\/intrusion, HVAC).<\/p>\n

Key Result 2:<\/strong> Assess accessibility district-wide and where gaps exist, build into operating & capital budgets.<\/p>\n

Key Result 3:<\/strong> Develop and follow preventative maintenance schedules including fire alarm, sprinkler, hvac\/ventilation systems.<\/p>\n

Key Result 4:<\/strong> Support student apprenticeship in work experience requirements.<\/p>\n

Key Result 5:<\/strong> Develop capital plans that take into account capacity pressures and optimal learning environments.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

DISTRICT GOAL: Families as partners in education who are welcomed in our schools and have access to child care after-hours activities<\/h4>\n\n\n\n\n

\nParents will have access to childcare spaces.<\/p>\n

Objective 2<\/u><\/strong>:
\nFamilies will have opportunities to engage with operations to develop trusting relationships.<\/td>\n

Key Result 1: <\/strong>Support PACs in enhancing school experiences for students with clear communication and processes.<\/p>\n

Key Result 2: <\/strong>Add and support child care spaces, as space permits and in keeping with direction from the Board of Education.<\/p>\n

Key Result 3: <\/strong>Provide Facility rental offerings to community and families.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Key Results 2:<\/strong> Provide relevant professional development guided by Operations management with input from employees.<\/p>\n

Key Results 4:<\/strong> Clear communication in staff meetings, OH&S meetings and informally.<\/p>\n

\nSupport efforts to mitigate the climate emergency.<\/td>\n

Key Result 1:<\/strong> Welcome community into schools by making spaces accessible.<\/p>\n

Key Result 2:<\/strong> Support City of New Westminster and Parks and Recreation in events and school fields bookings.<\/p>\n

Key Result 3:<\/strong> Support use of our buildings through Facility Rentals (e.g. municipal, provincial, or federal elections).<\/p>\n

Key Result 4:<\/strong> Facilitate safety inspections within our building with authorities having jurisdiction such as Fire Department, WorkSafeBC, TSBC, or SPP.<\/p>\n

Key Result 5:<\/strong> Develop capital plans that take into account ways to reduce the district\u2019s carbon footprint.<\/p>\n
