{"id":13563,"date":"2019-01-03T18:56:30","date_gmt":"2019-01-03T23:56:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/?p=13563"},"modified":"2019-07-22T20:57:10","modified_gmt":"2019-07-23T00:57:10","slug":"heats-up-a-warm-welcome-back-to-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/heats-up-a-warm-welcome-back-to-school\/","title":{"rendered":"A warm welcome back to school!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fortisbc.com\/news-events\/media-centre\/bc-s-natural-gas-supply\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13578\" src=\"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/FortisBC-640.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"690\" height=\"213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/FortisBC-640.jpg 640w, https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/FortisBC-640-300x93.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px\" \/><\/a>January 3, 2019 &#8211; The heat&#8217;s back up at New Westminster Schools thanks to good news about BC&#8217;s natural gas supply.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fortisbc.com\/MediaCentre\/BCsNaturalGasSupplyIsLimited\/Pages\/default.aspx?utm_campaign=epr&amp;utm_content=reduceyouruse\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FortisBC <\/a>has given the green light to customers to resume normal use of natural gas.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s thanks in large part to the help of conservation measures taken at cities, school districts and other sites across the province &#8211; who all pitched in to help reduce use following a rupture of a key pipeline in October.<\/p>\n<p>And that means a warm welcome back to school for students, staff and teachers on January 7.<\/p>\n<p>The Enbridge pipeline, which supplies natural gas to much of the Lower Mainland and throughout BC, ruptured near Prince George on October 9. The explosion disrupted supplies and reduced pipeline capacity to about 55 per cent.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">The pipeline is now at 85 per cent operating capacity.\u00a0<\/span>FortisBC is\u00a0moving supplies into storage facilities to address possible upcoming cold weather and emergency events.<\/p>\n<p>Until the pipeline returns to 100 per cent capacity, customers are asked to be mindful of their energy use.
