The tug-of-war contest was a graphic demonstration for everyone to see what the power of standing together can mean.<\/p>\n<p>As Juan Cespedes told the students, &#8220;I have seen my friends bullying others. You don&#8217;t know what bullying is going to do to a person. You need to tell your friend to stop. \u00a0If you are bullied, you can talk to a trusted adult &#8211; a teacher, your parents, the principal. \u00a0It&#8217;s a big issue.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And, as Patrick McManus advised, &#8220;just because it&#8217;s a problem doesn&#8217;t mean it will always be a problem. \u00a0Talk it out,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Bullying comes in many forms&#8230;<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2608 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Const.-Lau-640-300x292.jpg\" alt=\"Const. Lau 640\" width=\"300\" height=\"292\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Const.-Lau-640-300x292.jpg 300w, https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Const.-Lau-640.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Constable Gerald Lau is the city&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nwpolice.org\/blog\/2015\/09\/11\/get-to-know-your-local-school-liaison-officer\/\" target=\"_blank\">police liaison officer<\/a> with New Westminster Schools&#8217; elementary and middle schools. His role includes educating youth on safety issues, from stranger danger to internet safety and social media awareness.<\/p>\n<p>Const.
