At New Westminster Schools, we will be observing Orange Shirt Week from September 26<sup>th<\/sup> to September 30<sup>th<\/sup> this year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/EveryChildMatters-Connaught-690.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-35985 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/EveryChildMatters-Connaught-690-300x226.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"226\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/EveryChildMatters-Connaught-690-300x226.jpg 300w, https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/EveryChildMatters-Connaught-690-200x150.jpg 200w, https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/EveryChildMatters-Connaught-690.jpg 690w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>This week honours the children, who never returned from residential schools, and it raises awareness about the intergenerational trauma experienced by survivors and their families. As a community it is important that we commit to our unlearning and learning, and together work to elevate Indigenous experiences and stories.
