Have your say for Budget 2018-2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9329 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/IMG_2189-1-640.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"468\" height=\"305\" \/>At New Westminster Schools, we are preparing our Annual Budget for the 2018\/19 fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>The Board of Education invites all community members to share their views on what they would like to see as the school district\u2019s educational priorities for the coming year.<\/p>\n<p>We hope you will take the time to fill out the survey and share your thoughts with us.<\/p>\n<p>This survey will be available for the month of February. Feedback will be compiled and shared with the Board in April. Our budget funds regular instruction, student services, maintenance, administration and other priorities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/TLDC-March-23-2017.pdf\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-9331 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/TLDC-snap-shot-640-cropped-232x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"232\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/TLDC-snap-shot-640-cropped-232x300.jpg 232w, https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/TLDC-snap-shot-640-cropped.jpg 476w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 232px) 100vw, 232px\" \/><\/a>We offer a range of educational programs and services, from Programs of Choice &#8211; such as French Immersion, International Baccalaureate and Montessori &#8211;\u00a0 to the Performing Arts and Technical Education. You will find information about our district\u2019s educational priorities, goals and actions in our document: <a href=\"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/TLDC-March-23-2017.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Teaching and Learning in Diverse Classrooms: A District Blueprint for Learner Success<\/a> (March 2017).<\/p>\n<p>This document forms the basis for planning activities for the coming year that will inform the budget process.<\/p>\n<p>The four primary themes of the Teaching and Learning in Diverse Classrooms document are:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 Engagement and personalized learning<br \/>\n\u2022 Social and emotional well-being and healthy lifestyles<br \/>\n\u2022 Communicating student learning<br \/>\n\u2022 Use of technology as a transformational educational tool for teaching and learning<\/p>\n<p>School trustees have also renewed for 2018 the Vision and Mission for New Westminster Schools to guide and inspire the district into the future.<\/p>\n<p>In addressing the fundamental purpose of school, trustees felt a vision that was both an aspiration and realistic would be captured in the statement:\u00a0<strong><em>New Westminster Schools is a place where students love to learn.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The district\u2019s newly-forged Mission Statement is<strong><em>:\u00a0to enable each student to learn in a safe, engaging and inclusive environment.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Renewing New Westminster\u2019s Schools\u2019 Vision and Mission will drive strategic directions\u00a0<i>a<\/i>nd inspire learning, teaching, and support in all aspects of the educational journey.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9345\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9345\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9345 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Board-Members-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Board-Members-1.jpg 400w, https:\/\/newwestschools.ca\/archive_241212\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Board-Members-1-300x211.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9345\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Trustees Michael Ewen, James Janzen, Mark Gifford (co-chair), Kelly Slade-Kerr (chair), Mary Lalji, Jonina Campbell, Casey Cook.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At New Westminster Schools, we are preparing our Annual Budget for the 2018\/19 fiscal year.
