Celebrating Our Teachers…

To our Teachers on World Teachers’ Day

On behalf of the Board of Education and district staff, we would like to take the opportunity on this special day to celebrate and thank you for your hard work as “the heartbeat of public education.”

The critical work you do on a daily basis, both inside and outside the classroom, to prepare children and youth for the future is deeply appreciated and profoundly inspiring. Your unwavering commitment to create New Westminster Schools as a place where students love to learn is taking shape in so many ways across the district and truly transforming our educational landscape.

Our recent Curriculum Implementation Day and Engaging Indigenous Perspectives Edcamp, where your professionalism and commitment were evident, exemplified this transformation in action.  As we continue to embed the core competencies in learning across all curriculum areas,  we are seeing and will continue to see increased student engagement and achievement. And, as we take Reconciliation to heart, we will continue to foster equitable and inclusive learning environments for all.

Your leadership and willingness to take risks in order to create something better is exciting. Our journey continues as we build for our future now.

Thank you!
