New Secretary-Treasurer appointed…

Sept. 25, 2019 – New Westminster Schools is pleased to announce that Bettina Ketcham, a collaborative leader in public education, will assume the role of Secretary-Treasurer at New Westminster Schools effective October 15.

As the former secretary treasurer for School District 28 in Quesnel, Ms. Ketcham brings both exemplary financial planning expertise and a track record of effective leadership supporting kindergarten to grade 12 educational priorities.

“We are impressed with Ms. Ketcham’s abilities and look forward to building on a foundation of transparency with our community as we work in partnership to fulfill our aspirations and priorities for our students,” said Board Chair Mark Gifford.

In her role as Secretary-Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer in Quesnel, Ms. Ketcham ensured operating and capital budgets were consistent with School District 28 visions, goals and policies. She provided critical guidance in strategic planning and facilitated the July 2019 announcement of a $52 million new middle school, a highlight of her tenure.

Ms. Ketcham is a Chartered Professional Accountant with a decade of management experience at major accounting firms KPMG, LLP in Kamloops and Quesnel, and at Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP in Vancouver.

She will take over from Kim Morris, who is assuming the role of Secretary-Treasurer with Greater Victoria School District No. 61 in October, and who was warmly thanked by the Board of Education and district leadership this week.  “I was extremely grateful  to work with such a cohesive and progressive board at New Westminster Schools,” Morris said.

“I know Bettina Ketcham is going to be a great addition to the team, “ said Superintendent Karim Hachlaf. “I am excited to see the next steps unfold for New Westminster Schools as we finalize our strategic plan and work together to support inspired student learning over the next five years.”
