Safe outdoor use of school grounds
As we look to the warmer weather coming, we’re all excited to spend a little more time outside.
And while we recognize that in other years this shift in season provides a great opportunity to chat with other parents at pick up and drop off times, this year is obviously a little different.
To support the hard work our staff are doing to keep kids as safe as possible throughout the school day, we count on you and appreciate you for being partners in that effort. Here are some things you can and should do to help:
- Please limit your arrival at the school to the 10-15 minutes before school lets out for the day.
- Maintain physical distance between yourself and other families.
- Please consider whether (especially at busy pick up and drop off times) it might be advisable to wear masks while anywhere on school grounds.
- If the playground and outdoor equipment is busy, and physical distance between kids in different cohorts can’t be maintained, please come back at another time.
Again, we know the access to playgrounds and fields at our schools is an incredibly important resource for families living in the neighbourhood, and we want to make sure that we can continue to make them available outside of school hours, in the safest way possible. So we thank you for your continued cooperation as we work to keep New Westminster Schools safer through the end of the school year.
