School closure: Mourning of Queen Elizabeth’s funeral
Dear students, staff, parents and caregivers,
As announced today, in the Premier’s statement on the national day of mourning to mark the Queen’s funeral, the Province of BC will be following the lead of the federal government in honouring the passing of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by observing a national day of mourning, on the day of her funeral.
The observance of this one-time holiday will include closing all K-12 public schools in British Columbia on Monday September 19th, 2022.
We recognize that any school closure can impact families, which is why we wanted to inform you as early as possible. We thank you for your understanding.
