We’re renewing our Mission, Vision and Values at New Westminster Schools
September, 2017 – The Board of Education is renewing New Westminster Schools’ Mission, Vision and Values to reflect our schools and communities as of 2017. The district shared the draft results of our trustees’ work with the public early in the summer, following a process of dialogue and debate over several months.
The draft mission statement as recommended September 12, 2017 by the Education Committee for board approval is:
- To enable each student to learn in a safe, engaging and inclusive environment.
The draft vision statement is:
- A place where students love to learn.
The draft values highlighting what is important in our school district are:
- Diversity, Inclusion, Integrity, Accountability, Innovation, Creativity, Curiosity, Engagement, Collaboration, Equity, Respect, Empathy.
During the summer, we launched a survey inviting feedback, advice and recommendations as we seek to clarify our overarching purpose, establish priorities, and guide decisions for our schools
The Board of Education will consider the Education Committee’s recommendations for approval on September 26. The new Mission, Vision and Values will guide the district in creating a Strategic Plan and Direction for New Westminster Schools.
