New Westminster Secondary School offers dual credit opportunities for students to earn both secondary and post-secondary credits, with tuition covered by the district. Explore pathways in healthcare, science and technology, creative technology, design, skilled trades, and more.

Douglas College Healthcare Partnership

Program overview

Students may take up to six university-transferable courses from January to August of their Grade 12 year for the AF programs. For MOA, Grade 12 students complete the entire certificate full-time from September to April. These courses provide both graduation and post-secondary credit.

Simon Fraser University School of Interactive Arts & Technology Creative Technology Micro-Certificate

Program overview

This micro-certificate includes three university-level courses offered by SFU’s School of Interactive Arts & Technology (SIAT) Surrey Campus. In their Grade 12 year, students explore digital creativity and earn university credit (transferable to SFU and other institutions).

  • IAT 102: Graphic Design
    • Date: September to December
    • Time: Wednesdays, 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • IAT 165: Game Design and Development
    • Date: January to April
    • Time: Wednesdays, 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • IAT 199: Creative Projects
    • Date: May to June
    • Time: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University Aided Design and Drafting

Program overview

This hands-on program develops practical skills in design and drafting using AutoCAD and BIM software. Students complete four courses toward a CADD Citation, preparing them for careers in drafting and design.

  • CADD 1100 – Drafting Fundamentals
  • CADD 1150 – CAD Computer Aided Drafting
  • CADD 1160 – Office Procedures & Software
  • CADD 1110 – Summative Projects

Schedule and location

Courses will run September to June on Tuesdays (in person) and Thursdays (online) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Cloverdale campus.
