Amazing Things Happening in The FRMS Library
Legacy Project

Thanks so much to Mr. Kirton and the tech ed team for helping out the Library Learning Commons with a special project! Some students requested to create a “Legacy Project” and make shelves for the graphic novels in our Library. Their hard work can be found at the front of the room and will be used for years to come! Thanks so much, it’s helpful to have such beautiful shelf space for our resources! Way to go!
Read-A-Thon
THANK YOU to our FRMS parents, students, teachers, and community for getting excited about literacy and reading and for your generous support in our Read-A-Thon. Together, you have raised $5,800!!! This money will go directly to our ELL program (English Language Learners and the teachers that support them), as well as our Library Learning Commons for more Books and Resources. During the Read-A-Thon, the Library circulation numbers were way up (the amount of books borrowed and returned) compared to previous Winters – and I also have a ton of books to fix now!
Congratulations to our winners Ms. Kaselj’s Div. 25 for raising nearly $1,000! Ms. Tyers’ Div. 27 and Mr. Young’s Div. 26 were close behind. A special thanks to Emma Reid in Mr. Letts’ Div. 12 for a generous contribution and just being an awesome human for our literacy community.
Here are the individual winners from each Grade! Winners received a Big Way Hot Pot Gift Card!
From Grade 6, our top two readers are from Division 25 – it’s the twins from Ms. Kaselj’s class! Zoe and Mikkayla! Mikkayla read the most in the school with over 6,000 minutes logged.
From Grade 7, the top two readers are represented by Division 12 Mr. Letts… Ana Julia and Jush! Congratulations!
And in Grade 8, representing Ms. Escandor’s Division 8 class we have Evie and the sage erudite herself (with over 6,000 reading minutes) – Jainisha!
Thanks again to everyone for participating, for donating, for checking out books, and for trying new things. It is greatly appreciated and helps contribute to our school culture and community. Keep reading and exploring new worlds!
And a huge thank you to the PAC for setting things up and bringing the idea of this event to our community!
We have lots of new books to check out, including new Manga, so please see Mr. Hebb and the LLC about our new resources.
