School Supplies

If you have not done so already, please use School Cash Online to purchase school supplies. Please contact your classroom teacher if you have any questions regarding the payment of school supplies.

Parking Lot and Street Parking

  • Parking lot is for STAFF ONLY. There is no parking in the staff parking lot for pick up and drop off.
  • We have designated spots for drop off at the front entrance in the roundabout. There is NO PARKING in this drop-off zone. Drop off zones are intended for children who are ready to walk independently to their line up areas. Most of our Grade 2-4 children can be dropped in this zone and walk independently to their line up areas in the morning. Parking in these zones creates a traffic jam and it becomes unsafe for our families who are walking. Please do not park in these spots. Thank you!
  • Parking is a challenge for all families so please give yourself extra time to find parking in the community so you can walk to designated line-up spots.

Nut Awareness

QE is a Nut Aware school as we have many students and staff with life threatening allergies to nuts. Please avoid packing lunches that contain nuts (peanuts, hazelnuts, etc) including Nutella. These foods, even in trace amounts, may cause a severe reaction (anaphylaxis) that can lead to death. The following symptoms may occur: hives, difficulty breathing, vomiting and diarrhea, swelling of the lips, mouth, and throat, itching and sneezing, loss of consciousness, and death due to shock. Even touching contaminated surfaces may cause a reaction.

Here are a few suggestions for you as parents:

  • Never take food allergies lightly; they can be serious and life-threatening.
    • Ask your child’s friends what they are allergic to and help them to avoid it.
    • Tell your child, “DO NOT SHARE FOOD.”
    • Frequent hand washing reduces the spread of viruses during the school year and helps protect food allergic students. Wash hands thoroughly after eating. Similarly, encourage good hygiene before and after-school. If your child had peanut butter for breakfast please have them wash their hands. Wash hands and surfaces before handling text books, computers or school equipment.
    • Tell your child to get help from an adult immediately if a schoolmate has a reaction.
    • PLEASE AVOID SENDING PRODUCTS WITH PEANUTS/TREE NUTS FOR SNACKS INCLUDING NUTELLA.
    • Check the bottom of the ingredient label to see if it may contain peanut/nut products or was processed in a peanut/nut factory.

A few office procedures and routines …

Late Arrivals: If your child arrives to school after the bell, they will need to enter the school through the front doors where they will check in with the office. (Even if you are in a portable they need to check in at the office).

For appointments during the school day: Please let the office and your child’s teacher know by email. Please sign your child out at the office before exiting the building. If your child is returning to school later in the day, they must be signed back into the school at the office.

Dismissal time is 3:00: Please make sure that someone is at the school to pick up your child(ren) on time.

Reporting a Student Absence: We ask that a student absence be reported before the start of the school day. This helps to ensure that you have given permission for your child to be absent and supports our staff in accurately tracking and following up on absences.

Please use the online reporting system at Queen Elizabeth website or phone the office at 604-517-6080.

Item Drop Off

Parents who are dropping off lunch or other items can place it on the table and label it with masking tape. Please use the pen and tape on the front table and label items for student pick up.

Parents are NOT to go to the portables to drop off lunches or other items. All items are to be brought to the front office.
