NWSS Grad Earns Youth Work in Trades Award

New Westminster Schools is pleased to announce former NWSS student Keith Davis is the proud recipient of a Youth in Trades Award.

Davis, an indigenous student who graduated in June 2023, earned the recognition and $1,000 in prize money. He was part of New Westminster Secondary’s plumbing apprenticeship program.

About Youth Work in Trades

The Youth Work in Trades program is jointly supported by B.C.’s Ministry of Education and Child Care and SkilledTradesBC. Youth Work in Trades lets students begin apprenticeship training as part of their secondary school education.

The Youth Work in Trades Award is “intended to help apprentices continue in the trade through the partial payment of tuition, or the purchase of tools or supplies. This award is a partnership between the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care (ECC) and SkilledTradesBC.”
