New Westminster Schools is experiencing a capacity crisis. The number of classroom spaces – including portables – in our district has reached the maximum limit allowed, as has the maximum number of students allowed in each grade level.
We value play space for students as part of their education and development. Eleven of 12 school sites in our district are undersized compared to Ministry of Education and Child Care standards. On some sites, play space is significantly reduced by portable placements.
