2025-2030 Strategic Plan

New Westminster Schools updated its previous five-year (2019-2024) strategic plan and roadmap in 2025 to reflect our learning community’s priorities. These new focus areas include:

  1. Student experience
  2. Caring and supportive systems
  3. Sustainable organization

Like its predecessor, the new strategic plan affects and reflects the work done by New Westminster Schools and outlines ways the district can improve its partnerships with the community and support local students and their families.

Public engagement

Working with our learning community that included staff, families, and partner groups to refresh our plan was an important and critical part of the process. New Westminster Schools relied on surveys, one-on-one interviews, focus groups, and a town hall to collect input over a period of several weeks.

The information we collected contributed to informed decision making that guided our new strategic plan’s focus areas.

Indigenous education and reconciliation in schools

The New Westminster Schools Board of Education continues its commitment to implementing recommendations and calls to action outlined by Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

The district remains dedicated to supporting the academic and social needs of all Indigenous students in New Westminster, being the first urban, off-reserve district to sign an Aboriginal Education Enhancement Agreement in British Columbia.
