French Immersion students celebrate French Immersion Day with film
New Westminster Schools’ French Immersion students got a treat – and an opportunity to put their bilingual skills to the test – when they marked French Immersion Day on April 23 with a field trip to catch two French movies.
Students from K-5 enjoyed animated feature, “Katak, le brave béluga” while Gr. 6-12 students watched “Mlle Bottine” with both groups sporting their “je parle français!” t-shirts.
National French Immersion Day is celebrated on the fourth Wednesday of April
The Canadian Association of Immersion Professionals (ACPI) declared the fourth Wednesday of April as “National French Immersion Day” to raise awareness about the importance of French immersion programs for bilingualism in Canada.
