About RCAP

The Royal City Alternate Program (RCAP) offers grade eight and nine courses to students facing social and emotional challenges in school who are seeking a different path to regular secondary school or an alternate secondary program. RCAP is community-centred and combines traditional academics with social and emotional support in and out of the classroom.

Program features include:

  • Community building through hot lunches, celebrations, field trips, and other group activities.
  • Individualized grading and assessments that let students progress at their own pace in a smaller classroom setting.
  • On-site youth care worker and counselling support.
  • Scheduled three-way conferences three times a year with students and their parents/guardians and additional meetings by request.
