New Westminster Schools offers early learning programs for children aged zero to five years that prepares them for entry into our system.

Our curriculum follows the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care’s “Early Learning Framework” and teachers help their students develop academically, emotionally, physically, and socially.

Kindergarten

Regular kindergarten registration runs from November to January, but we accept applications year-round. Children are eligible for kindergarten on the year they turn five years old. Four-year-old students may apply if they turn five on the year school starts.

StrongStart

StrongStart BC Early Learning Centres are open to children aged zero to five and their parents or guardians. StrongStart is staffed by qualified early childhood educators who will introduce children to learning through play.

Ready, Set, Learn

Ready, Set, Learn is an event held every year at multiple locations in select New Westminster elementary schools. Families and their three- to five-year-old children are invited to play and meet school staff and community service providers.

Just B4 Preschool

Just B4 Preschool is held in Queensborough Middle School and is designed support young learners the year before they start kindergarten.

The program follows the standard district school calendar from September to June and can accommodate a maximum of 20 children.
