About our international education program

New Westminster Schools hosted its first international students in 1987, making our district’s public school program one of Canada’s longest running. We offer long and short-term programs and our students benefit in many ways, including:

  • Access to dedicated international education staff who are here to help students with making their experience with us as enjoyable as possible.
  • A variable English Language Learner program that lets students start learning English at any level and still be integrated with their Canadian peers.
  • Opportunities to join our homestay program where we place our students with suitable local families.
