The Welcome and Wellness Centre is located at New Westminster Secondary School’s southside entrance and serves New Westminster’s students and parents, especially those who are new to the city and/or to Canada.

Welcome Centre services

  • District central registration – Central registration can help families register their child(ren) with New Westminster Schools and provide support where needed.
  • Community Navigator – The Community Navigator helps connect people with local service providers, programs, and events happening in New Westminster.
  • Settlement Services – In-house MOSAIC staff are on hand to support newcomers to Canada.

Wellness Centre services

  • Mental health support:
    • District youth care workers and a clinical counsellor are on hand to provide students with same-day or ongoing support. Cameray Child and Family Services offer counselling programs for children, youth, and families. By appointment only.
  • Grief and bereavement care Lumara Society staff are available to help children, youth, individuals, and families impacted by life-threatening illnesses, grief, and loss.
  • Community health and primary care – A nurse practitioner from Fraser Health is on-site every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to provide confidential advice and services, including:
    • Sexual health
    • Mental health issues
    • Advice and support for other medical concerns
  • Support for middle school and elementary students
  • Health promotion – Support groups, workshops, and learning opportunities are available on occasion to address issues such as nutrition, physical, sexual, and mental health, gender identity, and more.
