Out-of-catchment and transfer applications
Applications for the 2025-2026 school year open at 9 a.m., Monday, February 3, 2025, and close at 4 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2025.
Sibling out-of-catchment transfer applications
Only students with siblings attending out-of-catchment schools (who will still be attending the school at the time the younger sibling starts) may apply for out-of-catchment transfers.
Sibling out-of-district applications
Only students with siblings who are attending a district school as an out-of-district student (and who will still be attending the school when the younger sibling starts) may apply for out-of-district placements at schools other than New Westminster Secondary.
New Westminster Secondary out-of-district applications
Only submissions from students attending district middle schools will be considered.
What happens if a school is full?
- Schools that are at maximum capacity will not accept out-of-catchment applications or transfers, except for siblings who already attend an out-of-catchment school.
- Placements at high-demand schools are determined through a lottery draw (with priority given to siblings).
- Students who cannot get into their catchment school are placed in the next available school. In addition, they will be added to their catchment school wait list and are free to move if spots become available.
