SIGMA Alternate Secondary School

SIGMA is an alternate education program, located within New Westminster Secondary School, for students in Grades 10 to 12. The program is designed to support students who face academic, social, emotional, or behavioural challenges by providing an alternative educational experience tailored to their individual needs. The program provides courses aligned with British Columbia’s standard curriculum and leading to high school graduation with the Dogwood Diploma.

POWER Alternate Secondary School

POWER is an alternate track to graduation that combines academic, career, and artistic educational experiences with individualized support and instruction with smaller class sizes. The program offers structured and self-paced courses that follow British Columbia’s standard school curriculum.

  • Open to students in grade 10, 11, and 12.
  • Successful completion leads to Grade 12 graduation.
  • Different combination of Grade 10, 11, and 12 courses offered each term, with three terms in the school year
  • Instructed by certified BC College of Teachers.

Royal City Alternate Program (RCAP)

RCAP offers grade eight and nine coursework to give students an alternate route to prepare them for the transition to regular secondary school or SIGMA/POWER.
