A commitment to collaboration is the heart of QEE’s Neighbourhood Learning Centre (NLC). We’re working with trusted community partners to shape the NLC’s shared space into a reflection of Queensborough’s needs that support community families in meaningful ways.

Programs and partnerships (coming soon)

The NLC will host programs and services designed to meet the needs of Queensborough families.

Its shared space will include on-site childcare so adults taking part in programs can do so with peace of mind that their children are cared for in a safe, play-based environment.

Some of the potential partnerships we’re exploring include:

  • Newcomer support.
  • Health and wellness services.
  • Community building services and activities.
  • Other locally driven programs that are based on community input and available partnerships.

What we’ve heard so far

Since fall 2024, New Westminster Schools has engaged in regular meetings with local organizations and service providers. Some of the input they’ve provided include:

  • Identified gaps in services and access.
  • More opportunities to share space and work together.

A summary of these findings was presented to district leadership in January 2025, and has helped guide the project’s subsequent steps.

Help shape the future of our shared space

We want to hear from you. As we move into the next phase of planning, your voice will help shape how the QEE Neighbourhood Learning Centre is used and who we work with.

A community-wide survey will be available from November 3 to November 17 on the district, Queensborough Elementary School, and Queensborough Middle School websites. This is your opportunity to share your thoughts and identify what services and programs matter most to your family.

  • The survey link will be posted here when it is available.
