New Westminster Schools welcomes new associate superintendent
New Westminster, B.C. – New Westminster Schools is pleased to announce Geraldine Lawlor will join the district as its new associate superintendent this coming September. Lawlor, a 32-year veteran in education, previously worked as a director of instruction (graduation and innovation) for Coast Mountains School District (SD82) in Terrace, British Columbia.
“I have great confidence Geraldine’s presence and leadership will help our district achieve wonderful things for our students and families,” said Mark Davidson, superintendent. “Her wealth of experience and obvious care for the community we serve are inspiring.”
“It’s a great honour to be given an opportunity to work in one of B.C.’s most progressive districts,” said Lawlor. “I’m looking forward to serving the community’s students and parents as associate superintendent.”
Lawlor earned two bachelor’s degrees in biochemistry and secondary education from the Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Master of Education in curriculum and instruction from the University of British Columbia. She spent 22 years as a classroom teacher before rising to the position of vice principal and principal in an alternate school. Lawlor continued on serving as a middle and secondary school principal for five years prior to becoming SD82’s director of instruction.
