Supporting Musical Theatre at NWSS

After 3 long years, New Westminster Secondary is happy to announce the return of the Musical Theatre Program! And they will mark this return in the Spring with a new show: Shrek the Musical, showing at the Massey Theatre from March 1st to 4th 2023.

The program’s return has been long anticipated, and is building a lot of excitement.

Musical theatre helps students explore their passions and connect with their community in an educational environment, creating joy and entertainment for both the students and their audiences. Students and staff are busy pouring their time and effort getting ready for Shrek the Musical, but they need financial help to put on this big show as well.

There are multiple ways to support our amazing theatre students in making this show possible, including:

  • Participating in their bottle drive! Donate bottles and other recyclables to the Queensborough Return-It center and state that you’d like your refund donated to the NWSS Musical Theatre program – 604-517-6260.
*Please make sure to provide the group name and phone number in order to ensure it is collected for the students
  • Bring your family and friends to one of their two movie sing-along nights this winter – interactive events perfect for all ages. The sing-alongs will be held in the NWSS Theatre, with snacks available for purchase. Entrance is by donation, set at a minimum of $2 per person. Shows include:
    • Frozen – Friday, December 2nd from 4 pm to 6 pm
    • Mamma Mia – Friday, Jan 6th from 5 pm to 7 pm
  • You can also donate directly to the Musical Theatre Program, as either a sponsor or on an individual basis. Find the link to donate here.
Be sure to choose “New Westminster Secondary School” as the fund destination and write “Musical Theatre Program” in the “Message to the School Board” section
Donations are divided into different tiers: Gold ($500), Silver ($250), Bronze ($100), and Friends (less than $100). The names of all donors will be featured in the show’s program and any donation above $25 will receive a tax receipt from SD40.
